Oil Record Book – Part I

Introduction

The Training Course is intended to provide the best available advice on the proper making of entries in the Oil Record Book – Part I (Machinery Space Operations).

Based on the IMO Guidance for Recording of Operations in the Oil Record Book (MEPC.1/Circ.736/Rev.2) and the industry guidelines, the aim of the course is to further increase the knowledge and understanding of Engineer Officers on the proper recordkeeping of all machinery space-related operations.

It takes into account the recent amendments to the International Oil Pollution Prevention Certificate (IOPPC) and the technological features of new ships, including the concept of the Integrated Bilge Waste Treatment System (IBTS).

Learning Objectives

Upon completing the Training Course, the participating Engineer Officers, will be able to:

  • Make correct and consistent entries in the Oil Record Book.
  • Effectively comply with the MARPOL Annex I related requirements, including
    the management of engine-room bilge water, sludge and other residues.
  • Help implement and promote the company’s policy towards pollution prevention.
