Oil Record Book – Part II

INTRODUCTION

The Training Course is intended to provide the best available advice on the proper making of entries in the Oil Record Book – Part II (Cargo & Ballast Operations). Based on Regulation 36 and the Appendix III of MARPOL Annex I, the aim is to further increase the knowledge and understanding of Deck Officers to the proper recordkeeping of all cargo/ballast handling-related operations.

It takes into account the recent amendments to the International Oil Pollution Prevention Certificate (IOPPC), a number of Unified Interpretations and the well-known industry guidance (Intertanko).

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

On completion, the participating Deck Officers, will be able to:

  • Make correct and consistent entries in the Oil Record Book, Part II.
  • Effectively comply with MARPOL Annex I requirements, including the management of tank washings, slop tanks water decanting, and the collection of cargo residues.
  • Understand the developments relating to new means permitted to electronically record the discharge, transfer and other operations.
